A cold storage building is a kind of warehouse with refrigeration equipment, or it can be said to be large-scale refrigeration equipment. Like the refrigerator, it mainly uses artificial means to create an environment different from outdoor temperature or humidity. It is also a constant temperature and humidity storage device for food, liquids, chemicals, medicine, vaccines, scientific experiments, and other items.
The application of cold storage building in our daily lives has become more extensive, such as food factories, dairy factories, fruit and vegetable warehouses, poultry and egg warehouses, aquatic products warehouses, pharmaceutical factories, chemical plants, vaccines, blood stations, laboratories, etc. Some items that require low-temperature refrigeration can be manually set to a specific temperature for long-term preservation in the cold storage, which provides great convenience for our lives.
Types of cold storage building:
According to the cold storage requirements of different items, the cold storage’s construction structure is different. A civil cold storage structure can no longer meet the increasing demand for cold storage. The emergence of prefabricated steel structure cold storage building meets the higher requirements of cold storage.
The civil cold storage structure is sturdy and durable, fireproof, and has a long service life. However, the construction period is long. The geological conditions are high, and the cold storage has many columns, which affects the stacking of goods and reduces the effective use volume of the cold storage.
With the emergence and wide application of steel structure warehouses, steel structure cold storage building came into being.
The development of light steel structure and modern logistics needs have promoted the rapid development of large-column grids and large-span steel-structure prefabricated cold storage.
Classification of cold storage
According to the scale of cold storage capacity, the division of cold storage capacity is not unified.
It divided into large, medium, and small storage:
Large-scale cold storage capacity is above 10,000t.
The medium-sized cold storage capacity is 1000~10000t.
Small cold storage refrigerating capacity is below 1000t.
According to the design temperature of refrigeration, there are four types of cold storage: high temperature, medium temperature, low temperature, and ultra-low temperature:
High-temperature cold storage design temperature is -2℃ to +8℃.
Medium-temperature cold storage design temperature is between -10℃ and -23℃.
Low-temperature cold storage design temperature is generally -23℃ to -30℃.
The temperature of ultra-low temperature quick-freezing cold storage is generally -30℃ to -80℃.
